Arrival Orientation

Every year thousands of students come to the United States on various educational and exchange visitor programs. One of the most popular and biggest programs in terms of participant numbers during the recent years has been the Work and Travel program.

The marketing researches conducted by Papa Carlo specialists have revealed the most common problems and difficulties participants encounter that become a serious obstacle in further successful participation in programs. This obstacle is – lack of information support.

Our Project has developed a specific information support program to “meet” students arriving at the airports of New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia. This is also called an “orientation program” and is aimed primarily at first-time participants however students participating for the second or third time are also welcome to participate in it.
The “arrival orientation” program includes:

  • Airport pick-up
  • Transportation to housing
  • 2-nights housing
  • Social security application assistance
  • Free internet access
  • SEVIS registration
  • Free telephone (international calls are subject to separate charges)

Besides that, an “Information Program” shall be conducted for students with detailed and helpful explanation of the most important issues students must be aware of as international U.S. visitors and program participants covering the following issues:

  • What program participants must be aware of?
    • Student’s responsibilities with the Program Sponsor
      • What Programs Sponsors need to be aware of at all times?
    • Responsibilities of Program Sponsor
    • Student’s responsibilities with Employer
    • Employer’s responsibilities
    • What students are allowed/not allowed to do?
    • Importance of SEVIS registration
  • Search of housing
  • Establishing bank account
  • Getting a U.S. driver’s license
  • U.S. transportation system
  • Job search (if they don’t have it)

Also, all orientation program participants shall receive a special English/Russian Papa Carlo Brochure “Your Guide in the United States” which has been composed basing on many years of experience of previous program participants covering a lot of useful information on legal and real-life aspects of life in the United States of America.
